contemporary documentary photography

This image is by Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin. Adam and Oliver are the creative editors of Benneton’s Colors magazine. This photography was taken with a large format camera which required a tripod, because it is a very slow camera.

"We spend so much time in each place. You can't just walk in, take some snaps and run out with your goodies. People get to know each other. You form intimate relationships. You spend three weeks in a place. People have to see what you're doing, they get to understand what you're doing" says Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin.

This photograph shows three men in jail and what it looks like in there cell. This photograph is one of many that were taken in a six month period to address mental health and the penal system. This story was later published in an issue of Colors.
