Landscape Photograph

I chose this landscape of a beautiful palm tree overlooking the ocean front by Barry Collins. Barry Collins is an Australian landscape photographer. Collins takes beautiful landscape photographs and can be seen at his website http://www.barrycollins.com.au/

The lighting that hangs over the ocean horizon casts back shadows on the giant palm tree that rests on the seaside. I love how you can see all the detail in the trees roots and the texture of the tree bark. This landscape has very warm rich colors and you can tell by the light and shadow what kind of day it is.

  1. This is a very romantic image! I like the way the tree frames the image of the surf. The vantage point appears to be under the shelter of the broad branches of the tree, which emphasizes the light on the beach and the sky. (By the way, I don't think that's a palm but some species of cedar or pine.)The clouds also seem to serve as a secondary frame for the water. The pastel colors suggest that this may have been captured late in the day

  2. I agree with you about the tree, I really like how it is so detailed and so large in comparison with the rest of the picture. I also like how so much of the water, sky and even the hills in the backround are all captured. It's almost as though the tree is framing the picture.

  3. You explained clearly what draws you to this image. That is well done but is it innovative?
